♥ NaNoRenO Week 4 ♥


Hi Everyone! ♥

Here's my devlog for week 4 of NaNoRenO! 

- Backgrounds update -

So- just to confirm with everyone, the game will be out on Friday no problem, and everything's finished!! ....except 1 single pesky background which will be finished later today. (the day of posting this devlog)

Here's how that background is looking right now:

Just some lining to finish and colors to add!

OTHER than that, 100% complete. no more things to add. finished. playable. And I'm very excited for it!

Here's the other 2 backgrounds too- I got a lot done this week!

I think they both turned out super nice!

- Lots of little flourishes -

As you might have noticed, the textbox is also finished! I started the week adding in the extra expressions Zoe did last week, and doodled a cleaned up version of the textbox and added it in:

Increased Nala's passion for getting a gf this week.

Early on I noticed Hayden behind the side sprites was a little too busy  so we switched that around.  Luckily all of the characters were on their own layers, to so it was easy enough to switch;

The surgery was a success!

I think Arley being darker than everyone else helps with the contrast a lot! Very happy with the change.

I also added in rain particles:

They're subtle, so I might tweak them further,  but they're in!

(Particle system thanks to tofurocks and rain code example by Vimi and his super useful video on th system!)

The message system icons are all in too! Zoe says I have a talent for drawing hamsters, which is very high praise considering how much she loves hamsters:

I think they look super cute!!

Also finally added Hina to another of those meme charts (not true dev-ing):

 

(Not shown) Animations were then also implimented into the script, which is something JKHA1 lacked in it's Jam version. I'm happy I had time to add them in! (Helped in part to the script being 1/5th the size LOL)

- Stealing, stealing and more stealing -

To resolve the fact that MC from JKHA still needed a name (and refusing to give them a canon name this time around LOL) I convinced zoe to draw me another pic of MC  for the naming screen, and here's how it initially looked side by side the first one:

Her art makes me want to draw cuter....So adorable.....

I then messed with it and added a little explaination as to why this screen exists:

Still not 100% on the wording for the bottom text bubble, but it works for now.

We also now have matching menus to the first game! (comparison below):

I really like how it all came out, it's so cute!

- All ready for the end of NaNoRenO -

I think that's everything? The game will be up sometime friday.  Maybe a little on the earlier side as friday over in New Zealand is tomorrow (though we started when the jam kicked off here at like 7pm).

Postmortem'll be up in roughly a week once NaNoRenO's over, I hope everyone'll enjoy JKHA2 and the introduction of Hina into the cast!
