♥Jumping Into NaNoRenO! ♥

Hi everyone!  ♥

This is my first attempt at NaNoRenO, I'm so excited!

For those of you who don't know, NaNoRenO is a month long jam taking place in March, and is one of the VN community's biggest.

I've always wanted to take part, and now it's finally happening!

The idea for this game comes from the amazing amount of love JKHA has recieved,  especially love for Nanala! It's about time we give her the girlfriend she's been wanting. 

You don't need to have played the previous game to enjoy this one, but I think maybe considering how many people liked Nanala in the first game, maybe it's worth playing for context? I'm not sure, haha; 

You can just enjoy this as a cute story about an airheaded girl getting a hot girlfriend. I hope you enjoy it! I'm already so hyped.

I'll be attempting this jam with my sister,  Zoe! She's Nanala's creator, and offical "person I always bounce my ideas off of", especially for JKHA. 

Zoe'll be handling the art, while I focus on the writing and programming. She has an adorable moe style that is PERFECT for VN.

Hayden and Nanala are somewhat related in their creation process, actually.

Hayden was designed for a seperate group project back in early 2020- a sort of otome/amare game where everyone contributed one character that was their type, and for that, I designed Hayden. Here's his old concept art(s):

He sorta has a different personality now (and a tie), but when the project failed I always felt it was a shame nothing was done with him. Then, for YaoiJam 2022, I decided to revive him and give him a boyfriend! and now he's happy over in JKHA.

JKHA needed more cast members, and I wanted a cute girl in the mix, so I asked Zoe to design/contribute a character that was her type, and Nala was born.

I think she was intended to be a little cooler... Less adorable and stupid, but I can't help myself. It's ok, her new girlfriend will make up for it.

Zoe and I are envisioning a girl that's a little rude, very cool, but wants to dote on Nanala. Maybe a little protective too. 

- PLAN FOR WEEK 1 -

We've been brainstorming the story these past couple weeks, and now it's time to make it!

Week 1 will be about writing for me, and drawing for Zoe. Inbetween writing spurts, I'll aim to work on stuff like the GUI and maybe the backgrounds.

I'm aiming somewhere under 8k words, but that's what I had for JKHA, and that ended up around 20k haha; I don't think I'll go over the 8k mark, this time, however. It took me that entire 2 months of YaoiJam to write that 20k, and that was due to the plot revolving around a setup that had to have some time to naturally play out.

This, however, is more about Nala accidentily going on a date with a cute girl. Almost a single event! So a lot cleaner to write for.

Since this is techincally a sequel game, We'll be doing the backgrounds in the same sort of style (3d models as a base, some draw-over and abstract colors on top). We haven't quite decided who'll be doing the drawing on top, but that'll just be dependant on who's got more spare time.

I guess we'll just have to see how it goes! Once week 1 is over, We'll have something to work with, and something I can then judge.
