♥ NaNoRenO Week 2 ♥


Hi Everyone! ♥

Here's my devlog for week 2 of NaNoRenO! 

- Still a kinda rough time -

Doing a little better this week! Still a little slow, and while I'm recovering, my sister went and caught what I had (whoops!) BUT she's doing better now, and all in all, I'm positive for the coming weeks and think the second half of March is really where we're gonna make our progress.

Nala and Hina have their sprites all drawn, and I was able to build them into the engine and start implimenting them into the script I have.

Hina's sprite's in there too (as opposed to the green placeholder from last time) As well as the backgrounds obtaining a very rough color scheme as plans progress there (I'll be focusing on backgrounds next week!)

Really starting to dig the miku-y teal that's happening here.

- The DEEP LORE - 

As you might have noticed, there's also a new textbox! (instead of just the one that comes with the program)

Part of the Nanala (and Hina by proxy, I think?) deep lore is that they are hamster themed (since Zoe loves hamsters) and so I think it could be cute including that in the design of the textbox, somehow.

Bonus art of Nala and Hina colored hamsters, thank you Zoe.

 (The whole cast is extremely, extremely loosely animal themed, actually. Hayden and Arley have bunny themed names and MC feels like a cat to me.) 

Speaking of cute animals, here's some asset art I forgot to include last time- A cute dog! Hina is scared of them so we're going to put this menacing beast into the story to give Nala a chance at playing the hero:

- How's the writing going? - 

Over on my end, I'm feeling a lot more confident in the story and now I have a (mental) outline of the exact flow of everything (which I was somewhat lacking last week) - it's coming together quite well! Currently the project is sitting at 3k words, which is decent, and I could see the end product being somewhere around 5-6k (At least for the Jam version).

I've also been messing with Nighten's phone system, which facillitates a small part of the story (Nala and Hina organizing the date, etc) and I have some basic customization in there too:

(placeholder icons to be replaced with silly pictures at a later date.)

-New Nala outfit! -

To finish up this week's devlog, here's a shot of the date location and Nala's cute new outfit! It's so cute, I had to share it!

..That's it. That her outfit is cute. I don't really have a lot else to say about it, really.

-Plans going into week 3 -

Next week, I'd like to primarily get the backgrounds sorted,  (3d base made, and a lot of the inking/drawover done) and the script at least vaugely written.  I think after JKHA, I've learned not to worry too much about the script taking the entire time of the Jam. We'll really start panicking in week 4 if I must LOL.

Maybe the UI a little more coherant too. But backgrounds for me will be the focus.
